As NRCC’s institutional diversity statement says, New River Community College recognizes and values “diversity that includes, but is not limited to, race, ethnicity, religion, culture, social class, economic status, age, gender, sexual orientation, personal identity and physical or mental capability” and “we respect the variety of ideas, experiences, and practices that such diversity entails.” The NRCC Library offers resources for students, faculty, and staff that aids efforts to foster an environment of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
This resource list is a “living document:” it will grow and change. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list, nor is this the final state of the collection. Instead, this list is a snapshot of the library’s current collection.
On this page, you will find lists of relevant titles from the library’s physical collection and academic databases. These categories were made intentionally broad to reduce the number of narrow categories and to reduce the number of lists. This broad categorization is for the sake of convenience, not to suggest that some topics are more worthy of study or more valuable than others.
You may also find it helpful to browse the list of keywords below which were used to create this list. In addition to the usefulness of the list of titles, this list may serve as a research guide. Many keywords from the list can be combined in multiple configurations to produce different search results.
To search specific terms in each list, use the Find function (CTRL+F for Windows, Command+F for Mac) and enter your desired term into the search box.
