The College uses a three-year program review cycle to afford educational programs the opportunity to reflect upon and share publicly the results of their annual program assessments for the three prior years, as well as their plans for the program moving forward, including improvements based upon findings of annual assessment efforts. By March 31st of the current academic year, the designated educational program faculty present to the division deans, Assessment Coordinator, President, Vice President for Instruction and Student Services, and representatives from both the Vice President for Instruction and Student Services’ staff and the President’s staff. Refer to the “Program Review Report-out Schedule” for the schedule of programs to report-out.
In conjunction with the program report-out schedule, program faculty and their supervising academic dean participate in "health checks" to review and discuss both quantitative and qualitative data related to their programs. Each year, the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Research provides quantitative data, including student demographic information, graduation statistics, selected results from the graduate survey, and retention data. During years when a program is scheduled for a report-out, the assessment coordinator and academic deans collaborate with program faculty to collect and document qualitative data not provided by the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Research, such as program needs, industry trends, and employer feedback. This is accessed and updated in NETSPACE under the “Educational Program Health” tab and is to be completed by May 15th.
This program review process provides program faculty and their supervising dean with an opportunity to review and discuss the findings from the program health check, reflect on the program review report-out, and identify areas for continuous improvement. Through this process, faculty can develop action plans, assess program effectiveness, and validate or establish future goals and outcomes that support the program's vitality and long-term success. Future goals and outcomes, along with their measures and targets, will be entered into NETSPACE following the program's learning outcomes and be reported on the following year. Follow up on these outcomes, including results/findings and action plans, will subsequently be documented in NETSPACE. Refer to the “Program Review Timeline” for a summary of the annual cycle.
