The NRCC Educational Foundation Scholarship application for the 2026-27 academic year is now open!
AWARD INFORMATION:
- Scholarship applications are reviewed monthly for the upcoming fall and/or spring semesters.
Scholarship awards are not available for the summer semester.
- Incomplete applications and/or applications without the required personal statement will not be
considered.
- Applicants will be notified by email of the scholarship award.
ELIGIBILITY FOR SCHOLARSHIP CONSIDERATION
The NRCC Educational Foundation awards scholarships (generally in the amount of $2,150 per academic year)
to qualified applicants for attendance at New River Community College.
These awards are based on criteria such as financial need and academic achievement.
Applicants of all ages are considered for NRCC Educational Foundation Scholarships.
Current and prospective NRCC students may apply.
Access to Community College Education (ACCE) students cannot receive an Educational Foundation
Scholarship while receiving ACCE funding.
Except as otherwise noted, the following general criteria apply to all Foundation Scholarship applicants.

Must be a Virginia resident living in the New River Community College service region
(Giles, Floyd, Pulaski or Montgomery Counties, or the City of Radford).
(Note: A limited number of scholarships do not have this requirement.)

Must enroll in a degree, diploma, or certificate program at NRCC.

Must maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA while enrolled at NRCC.
(Note: Some scholarships require a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA.)
Except as otherwise noted, the following general criteria apply to all Foundation Scholarship recipients.

There is no minimum credit requirement to receive a scholarship; however,
the scholarship award will not exceed the total amount of tuition.

Recipients must:
- Attend the college’s annual scholarship dinner held in late September/early October.
- Attend a scholarship orientation/thank-you session.
- Write a thank-you letter to the scholarship donor(s).

Returning scholarship students do not need to reapply for the scholarship for a second year.
Scholarship recipients will continue to receive their scholarship awards if they maintain
eligibility criteria.
