Course Development Project Support Summer Institute Professional Development

So far for the 2002 year of Title III several projects have been accepted for project support resources.

Project Highlights:

• Refined online course evaluation system to improve accuracy and integrity.

• Setup 89 Blackboard courses in preparation for Spring semester.

• Created Intranet for Distance Education to aid in managing DE students and day-to-day activities.

• Added password protection to course material on marketing website

• Enhanced 4 ADJ courses with publisher-provided content

• Assisted Practical Nursing faculty members LaRue Ridenhour and Mia Copeland with their first steps towards integrating technology into instruction. They are posting grades online and using Blackboard's email feature to communicate with students in the following courses:

  Body Structure and Function
  Medical Surgical Nursing
  Nursing Across The Lifespan
  Nursing In Health Changes
  Pharmacology for Nurses

• Implemented the following new supplemental Blackboard courses for Drafting, Art, and Business:

  Drafting I
  Computer-Aided Drafting and Design I
  Computer-Aided Drafting and Design II
  Computer-Aided Modeling and Rendering
  Parametric Solid Modeling
  Principles of Management
  Human Resource Management
  Art Appreciation
  

• Developed online demo for faculty on "Grading Papers Online"

• Added section of CSC 110 online for high school dual enrollment

• Redesign of IST 127 to integrate an online learning component

• Trained Mia Copeland, LaRue Ridenhour and Cindy Mykoychik in Blackboard.

• Re-designed and added features to student-focused DE departmental website

• Researched and tested new video compression techniques for Flash and QuickTime to improve availibility and delivery to students.
