Q. What do I need to do to take a distance education course?
A. Register as you would for any other course offered through NRCC. You must be registered to pick up or access any materials.
   
Q. Do DE classes require tests or assignments?
A.

Yes

   
Q. Do I need to come to campus for any of my DE courses?
A. Some DE courses (print and web-based) may require trips to campus, refer to the class schedule or course syllabus for details.
   
Q. Are all courses online?
A. No, in addition to internet-based courses there are print-based courses available.
   
Q. Do I need books for DE courses? If so, where can I purchase them?
A.

Yes, you will most likely need books. Refer to your course plan for textbook information. Books may be purchased through the NRCC bookstore, visit the "Virtual Bookstore" link (http://www.nrbookstore.com) to purchase online.

   
Q. When can I access my materials and start the course?
A. On or after the first day of classes visit Blackboard (http://learn.vccs.edu) to access course materials. Courses and course materials are not available until classes have started.
   
Q. Who is my instructor and how do I contact them?
A.

Q. Where do I submit assignments and take tests?
A. Refer to your course syllabus for assignment submission and testing guidelines. Printed assignments can be turned in at either of our two testing centers; Martin Hall on the main campus or NRCC's NRV Mall site. Online courses may require electronic or hand-delivery for some submissions, refer to syllabus for details.
   
Q. When will the instructor grade my work?
A. Varies for each instructor, contact instructor for grading timelines.
   
Q. How do I get my grades?
A.

See individual instructors for assignment/test grades. Final grades are accessable online through the SIS system.

   
Q. If I received media for my course, where do I return it at the end of the semester?
A. Media should be returned to the circulation desk in the Library of Martin hall.
   
Q. How do I get help with Blackboard?
A. Visit http://de.nr.edu/help
   
Q. Where do I find my Blackboard account information?
A. Access http://my.vccs.edu to lookup your username.
   
Q. What if my Blackboard account isn't accessible or doesn't work?
