Professional Development Activities

Professional Development is a great way to take advantage of Title III funds. To apply for funds to attend an instructional technology focused training or conference check out the criteria for professional development and the Request for Professional Development Funds found in the Resources section of the site.

2003 InfoComm Exhibition and Trade Show
Jose Melendez and Lee Anderson were awarded Title III funds to attend InfoComm in Orlando, Florida, the largest annual A/V equipment exhibition held in the US. Some of the sessions attended included "Practical Lighting Solutions for Video Conference Spaces", "Video Production for Streaming", and even a behind the scenes A/V tour of Disney World! From the conference sessions, Jose was able to gain some real world tools to implement in daily operations specifically in the areas of video conferencing, and distance learning classroom using two way interactive television systems.

Lee also attended classes while attending the show. The classes were helpful to Lee since he installs systems for learning at NRCC.

Some or the classes were:

  • Fiber Optic System Architecture and Applications for AV
  • Effective Sound Reinforcement Systems
  • LCD Projectors
  • DLP Projectors

2003 Society for Applied Learning Technologies (SALT) Conference
Adam Bryant and Heidi Guthrie attended the SALT Education and Technology 2003 Conference in Arlington, VA with the help of Title III funding. Heidi and Adam attended several sessions on integrating technology into adult learning and also presented a session titled "Customizing Instructional Technology Solutions for Instructors". The sessions attended inspired many possible ideas to incorporate into NRCC courses and the presentation given was well attended and received excellent reviews.
